Seeking the spiritual in her surroundings, people and events, has been a common thread in all of Paula's endeavors. It has been said that her artwork exhibits a serenity. Her passion for truth in art and life has carried her in many directions, including being a Catholic nun for 12 years! Leaving that lifestyle for personal growth, married and since divorced. Paula's travels are a rich source for her plein-aire paintings.

Paula V. Bacinski's landscapes and seascapes are characterized by luminous color and clarity of tone. Primarily working on location, this Southern California artist uses oils and pastels to celebrate the Light of creation. Paula's love of the outdoors is apparent in her art and contemplative spirit. Her paintings simplify nature's moods in a range of seasons, times of day and terrain's, from Southwest desert sunrises to translucent ocean waves from magnificent roses to the brilliant hues of ripe fruits and wildflowers.

Iridescent blue seascapes, brilliant pink sunsets and translucent orange segments are created byPaula using the finest pastels and oils available. Brushwork or creamy pastels lightly layering one hue over another. The French paper, having a slightly sanded surface, enhances crosshatching and blending. The texture of canvas receives paint in an emotional response to her still lifes and outdoor experiences.

Lukits, a master in oils and pastels.Years of drawing, value studies, composition theory and anatomy classes preceded the discipline of color work and accurate renderings of subjects under various types of lighting.
